Thomas Moore, a 39-year U.S. Navy veteran and former head of Naval Sea Systems Command, has joined Huntington Ingalls Industries' (NYSE: HII) nuclear and environmental services business as vice president of nuclear operations. The retired Navy vice admiral will oversee nuclear programs for the Department of Energy portfolio within HII's technical solutions division, led by Andy Green, the company said Wednesday.

David Goldfein, former chief of staff of the U.S. Air Force and two-time Wash100 Award recipient, has been named a senior adviser at New York-based investment company Blackstone (NYSE: BX). Goldfein retired from the Air Force in October with the rank of general after 37 years of service and will provide advice to the Blackstone leadership on investment and strategic matters, the company said Thursday.

Accenture Federal Services will use artificial intelligence and machine learning to accelerate analysis of geospatial imagery under a potential four-year contract with the Intelligence Advanced Research Projects Activity. AFS will work with Element84, I2R, Boston University, Cornell University, MIT, North Carolina State University, South Dakota State University, University of Tennessee and University of California-Riverside to study changes in the earth’s surface caused by climate change, urban growth and other factors under IARPA’s Space-based Machine Automated Recognition Technique program.
