The Department of Veterans Affairs has awarded a potential five-year, $276 million contract to a joint venture of ThunderYard and Booz Allen Hamilton to meet VA’s data and analytics requirements.
According to a notice published Wednesday on the Federal Procurement Data System-Next Generation, VA received 16 offers for the Data and Analytics Integration Modernization and Operations, or DAIMO, contract.
The DAIMO contract awarded to ThunderYard Liberty JV is expected to run through July 15, 2030.
The department competed the contract as a total small business set-aside program under the General Services Administration’s Multiple Award Schedule and initially obligated $17.9 million at the time of award.
What Is the Purpose of the VA DAIMO Contract?
According to a request for information released in 2023, DAIMO will support the mission of the product engineering service for data and analytics, or PES DA, pillar within the VA Office of Information and Technology to provide an integrated ecosystem of interoperable data management, discovery and analytics tools that facilitate evidence-based decision-making across the VA enterprise.
Through DAIMO, VA intends to consolidate the development, modernization and sustainment of products and programs executed by PES DA, which oversees the data and analytics product line to promote the accurate sharing of data products that enable the delivery of healthcare and benefits to veterans, according to the draft performance work statement.
What Does ThunderYard Liberty JV Do?
ThunderYard Liberty JV supports federal agencies and their missions by providing cloud, digital platforms, data, artificial intelligence and cybersecurity platforms and services.
The joint venture was formed after Booz Allen acquired Liberty IT Solutions, ThunderYard’s former JV partner. ThunderYard Liberty JV is supported by the Small Business Administration’s Mentor-Protege Program.
