AMERICAN SYSTEMS has received a $113.4 million follow-on task order to support a Department of War customer’s critical technology development efforts by providing engineering, research and technical support services.

Moving emerging technologies from the lab to the warfighter remains a priority across DOW’s research and development enterprise. What Is the Scope of the Task Order?
The McLean, Virginia-based company said Thursday it will help the DOW customer develop, evaluate and transition advanced capabilities intended to bolster national defense and mission readiness.
The company will deliver engineering, technical and program management support in a complex and changing operational setting. Work under the task order started in June and is scheduled to run through mid-2029.
What Did CEO John Steckel Say About the Task Order?
John Steckel, president and CEO of AMERICAN SYSTEMS, said the award highlights the company’s position as a trusted partner providing technical solutions to address critical national challenges.
“We look forward to supporting our customer in advancing capabilities that are vital to future mission success,” Steckel added.
In a recent Executive Spotlight interview, Steckel said the company supports DOW efforts to speed up the movement of emerging technologies from development to warfighters through quick, mission-relevant demonstrations and assessments that show decision-makers how those technologies perform under realistic conditions.
He noted that the company integrates AI and advanced data analytics into its test and evaluation processes to help deliver capabilities to warfighters faster and at reduced cost.
What Are the Company’s Other Recent Developments?
The follow-on task order adds to a string of recent Department of War awards for AMERICAN SYSTEMS. In early October, Space Systems Command awarded the company a $43 million task order to continue operating and maintaining the Red Local Area Network system, including data provider and data recipient additions.
In February, AMERICAN SYSTEMS secured a $172.7 million follow-on contract to support the Naval Surface Warfare Center Indian Head Division’s Demonstration and Assessment Team, which helps the Navy and Marine Corps evaluate emerging technologies and accelerate their transition to the warfighter.
Beyond contract awards, the company named Chris Carson to its board of directors in September, where he chairs the audit and finance committee.
