Longbow Secures $420M Army Contract for Apache Radar Systems

  • Longbow will provide Apache fire control radar systems and post-production support
  • Contract work is expected to continue through Jan. 31, 2032
  • Funding and work locations will be determined with each order

Longbow, a joint venture of Lockheed Martin and Northrop Grumman, has received a $419.6 million contract from the U.S. Army for work related to the AH-64 Apache attack helicopter.

What Does the Apache Contract Cover?

The Department of War said Thursday the Orlando-based joint venture will deliver fire control radar systems for the AH-64D and AH-64E variants. The cost-no-fee, cost-plus-fixed-fee and firm-fixed-price award also covers post-production support and is expected to be completed by Jan. 31, 2032.

The Army did not specify work locations or funding amounts, saying both will be determined with each order. The Army Contracting Command at Redstone Arsenal, Alabama, is managing the contract. The government solicited one bid and received one response.

What Previous Apache Contracts Has Longbow Received?

In July 2025, the Army awarded Longbow a $348.3 million contract modification for fire control radar systems, with completion expected in September 2025. The joint venture also received an $11.2 million modification in January for sustainment services for the Apache’s fire control radar, according to HeliHub. The work covered depot-level maintenance, supply support and program management.

Older Apache-related awards include a $164.6 million contract for mast-mounted assemblies and radar electronics and a five-year, $235.8 million contract for fire control radar systems for foreign military sales customers in 12 countries. The Army awarded both contracts in 2020.

In a related development, Lockheed Martin received a $117.1 million Army contract to support the second-generation radar frequency interferometer on the service’s Apache helicopters.
