Satellogic has appointed retired Navy Vice Adm. Frank Whitworth as president, moving him from the strategic advisory post he took in March into an operating role.
Whitworth will run internal operations and shape strategy for the company’s defense and intelligence products, reporting to co-founder and CEO Emiliano Kargieman, the company told GovCon Wire on Tuesday. The appointment took effect immediately.
He is a four-time Wash100 Award winner.
What Background Does Whitworth Bring to Satellogic?
Whitworth served as the eighth director of the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency from June 2022 to November 2025, leading a 16,000-person combat support agency. He expanded the Pentagon’s Project Maven AI program to all military services and combatant commands during that tenure.
His earlier assignments include intelligence director for the Joint Staff, intelligence director for U.S. Africa Command, deputy director for computer network operations at the National Security Agency, and intelligence director for Joint Special Operations Command. He spent more than 36 years in the Navy and the intelligence community.
Whitworth comes to Satellogic from r4 Federal, where he served as CEO and led AI-driven decision advantage work for defense and intelligence customers.
Kargieman said Whitworth’s understanding of defense and intelligence requirements suits him to help the company scale.
