Parsons said Monday that it has been awarded a $514 million contract option to continue delivering engineering and technical services to the Missile Defense Agency.
“As missile threats grow more advanced, the need for integrated, battle-ready air and missile defense capabilities has never been greater,” said Mike Kushin, president of Parsons’ defense and intelligence unit. “We are proud to support the Missile Defense Agency in strengthening the nation’s missile defense system through resilient command and control, advanced systems engineering, and mission-critical solutions that enable warfighters to detect, track, and defeat threats before they reach our homeland.”
What Will Parsons Do Under the Contract Option?
Under the agreement, Parsons will continue to provide studies, analysis, evaluation and management support tied to the nation’s integrated Missile Defense System, building on work the company has performed for the agency for several years.
The two-year option is the second under Parsons’ Technical, Engineering, Advisory and Management Support-Next Missile Defense System Engineering contract, known as TEAMS-Next, which the Chantilly, Virginia-based company first secured in 2021. The TEAMS-Next award is part of a group of five five-year prime contracts MDA granted to Parsons, covering engineering and technical advisory work across different parts of the agency. Two of those contracts — covering weapons and missile systems engineering along with broader systems engineering — fall under the Ballistic Missile Defense System portfolio.
Through this work, Parsons contributes engineering support, helps define system architecture and develops future design concepts aimed at countering emerging threats that do not follow a traditional ballistic trajectory. The company also carries out general systems engineering, guiding missile defense capabilities through the full lifecycle — from initial spiral design through development, testing, verification, assessment and eventual delivery to military operators — across defense architectures spanning multiple years.
What Is Parsons’ History Working With the MDA?
Parsons’ work for MDA spans efforts to defend against a range of threats, including ballistic missiles and hypersonic weapons, to protect citizens and critical infrastructure. The company’s portfolio under the broader missile defense mission includes its Air Base Air Defense work supporting overseas security infrastructure, as well as non-kinetic missile-defeat capabilities rooted in its electromagnetic warfare expertise.
In 2022, the government services arm of Parsons landed an award worth as much as $104.2 million to handle planning, design and construction work tied to the MDA’s efforts to restore and upgrade its facilities. Under that deal, Parsons is helping MDA develop more sustainable infrastructure, refurbish aging or dilapidated military facilities, and oversee lease arrangements through the agency’s Real Property Program. The company is required to carry out work in military sites in Virginia, Alaska, Alabama and California, with completion expected by February 2028.
