One Stop Systems has appointed defense and technology executive Paul “PK” Averna as vice president of business development and growth to expand the company’s presence in defense and commercial markets.

The rugged high-performance computing provider said Thursday Averna will help drive revenue growth, strengthen customer engagement and pursue new opportunities related to artificial intelligence, sensor processing and edge computing technologies.

“PK brings a proven track record of building customer relationships, leading high-performing teams and delivering growth in mission-critical technology environments,” said Mike Knowles, CEO of OSS. “His deep experience with Department of Defense and commercial customers will help OSS accelerate growth, expand market reach and convert new opportunities across rugged AI, sensor processing and high-performance compute at the edge.”

Who Is Paul Averna?

Averna brings more than 30 years of experience across defense technology, military training, business development and federal markets.

Most recently, he served as vice president of VX Marine, where he developed enterprise solutions for naval customers and supported emerging maritime mission requirements.

Before VX Marine, Averna spent more than seven years at Cubic Defense, including as vice president and general manager of the advanced training solutions business unit. In that role, he helped grow the business and supported the transition to advanced multi-domain training environments.

His private-sector experience includes executive and business development roles with The Fozzie Miller Group, Three Wire Systems, Micro Focus and Addx, where he supported defense, technology and federal acquisition initiatives.

What Military Experience Does Averna Bring?

Averna is a retired U.S. Navy captain whose military career included service as a naval aviator, F-14 pilot and Top Gun instructor.

His assignments included leadership positions within the Navy Reserve, Navy enterprise initiatives and operational support roles for U.S. 5th Fleet in Bahrain. He also served as a graduate and instructor within advanced naval aviation training programs.

He earned a bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering from the U.S. Naval Academy.
