Trident Solutions Acquires Ibeos to Strengthen On-Orbit Electronics Capabilities

Trident Solutions has acquired space electronics developer Ibeos, expanding its capabilities in on-orbit computing and power systems used in government and commercial space missions.

The company said Monday the transaction strengthens its portfolio of space-qualified electronics, combining its mission data processing and networking technologies with Ibeos’ power systems, batteries and avionics products.

What Does the Acquisition Add to Trident’s Capabilities?

Ibeos develops space-qualified power systems, flight computers, processing units and data storage technologies designed for satellite missions operating in environments ranging from low Earth orbit to cislunar space and beyond. It employs an engineering team that brings experience in radiation-hardened electronics and thermal optimization.

“This strategic acquisition is an important step in building an integrated space electronics platform focused on high-performance, high-reliability capabilities delivering next-generation power, computing, and networking solutions at scale,” said Lorin Hattrup, CEO of Trident.

The combined capabilities will allow Trident to better support next-generation proliferated satellite architectures and national security, civil and commercial space missions.

What Happens to Ibeos After the Acquisition?

Following the acquisition, Ibeos will continue supporting its existing customers and programs. “For our customers and partners, it’s business as usual. Ibeos will continue to deliver the same trusted edge processors, modular power systems solutions, and battery solutions, supported by the same teams and with the same commitment to quality and reliability you expect,” the company said in a LinkedIn post.

Trident is backed by private equity firm ATL Partners, which established the company as part of a defense electronics platform that includes Trident Systems and Ophir.
