DLA said Friday the Stockton, California-based company will support U.S. military personnel stationed in Australia, Japan, the Philippines, Singapore and Diego Garcia. Under the contract, awarded on Sept. 26, CPFD will establish two warehouses in Darwin and Brisbane in Australia to meet growing stock requirements.
“The addition of Subsistence Prime Vendor warehouses in Australia is a historical first that will strengthen agency global resilience in support of the warfighter,” said Division Chief Sean Gemmell.
The initiative will enable faster order fulfillment and higher inventory levels for warfighters in the region, reducing supply chain risk and enhancing responsiveness to demand surges. Food delivery times are expected to drop from 14 to seven days for smaller ships and from 45 to 30 days for larger vessels.
Gaining Key Insights From First Australian Solicitation
The contracting team took five years to process support for Australia due to global events, the COVID-19 pandemic and import restrictions. Contracting Officer Meghan Freda said the effort marked the team’s first solicitation in the region and presented challenges that offered key lessons, including the need to obtain a Domestic Non-Availability Determination to import chicken and beef into the country.
