According to an award notice published Monday, the company will serve as an enterprise integration partner under the cost-plus-fixed-fee contract and work with the Department of Defense’s Innovation Capability and Modernization Office and the U.S. Navy to identify, build and deliver holistic solutions to regional and broader challenges facing the submarine workforce and industrial base.
According to the solicitation, the contract’s scope includes the provision of labor, equipment and materials needed to build and expand the capability and size of the maritime submarine workforce and industrial base and accelerate the development and adoption of improved manufacturing technologies and processes in key areas of the U.S. maritime supply chain.
“The primary focus of the EIP is to help the Navy rapidly reach and sustain a programmed production rate of 1+2 submarines per year with a predominant emphasis on closing associated industrial workforce gaps,” the RFP reads.
The EIP will help strengthen the U.S. defense submarine workforce and industrial base and modernize the supply chains by advancing initiatives through six lines of effort: workforce development, supplier development, shipyard infrastructure, strategic outsourcing, improvement of government shipbuilding construction workforce and processes and technology opportunities.
