The U.S. Navy awarded HII’s (NYSE: HII) Newport News Shipbuilding business a contract modification worth up to $1.17 billion to complete engineering overhaul of the Los Angeles-class attack boat USS Boise, the Department of Defense said Friday.
The action comes more than six years after the service branch initially announced the contract, which is expected to be completed in September 2029.
At the time of the award, the Navy will obligate fiscal 2023 and 2024 procurement funds valued at $29 million and $6.9 million, respectively.
NNS will finish the work for the cost-plus-incentive-fee modification at its operational site in Virginia.
The contracting activity is the Naval Sea Systems Command in Washington, D.C.
