Clarivate and Cardinal Intellectual Property have won contracts worth $538.8 million combined to help the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office manage international applications to protect inventions, according to award notices posted Thursday on SAM.gov.
As an International Searching Authority, the USPTO receives approximately 22,000 international patent applications in various technology areas annually.
Through the contracts, the agency will assign contractors to provide international search reports and opinions in specific technology areas to ensure PCT requirements are filed on time.
Clarivate and Cardinal IP offer intellectual property software and patent and trademark research services to the government sector.
