GSA Exercises 5-Year Option for VETS 2 IT Support GWAC; Sonny Hashmi Quoted

The General Services Administration has exercised the option period of five years for a governmentwide acquisition contract that federal agencies use to acquire information technology support services from service-disabled veteran-owned small businesses.

Forty-five vendors hold spots on the Veterans Technology Services 2 GWAC, which supports agency requirements for new and emerging technologies and comes with contractor operating mechanisms to facilitate tracking of IT spending and help contracting officers with the price analysis, GSA said Friday.

The agency noted VETS 2 backs government programs that intend to improve equity and provide an opportunity for owners of underserved small businesses.

“This partnership has resulted in more than $2.7 billion in awarded federal contracts in the base period, and is expected to continue growing during the option period,” said Sonny Hashmi, commissioner of GSA’s Federal Acquisition Service and a previous Wash100 awardee.

The ordering period for VETS 2 will run through Feb. 22, 2028.
