Renee McPherson, director of the South Central Climate Adaptation Science at University of Oklahoma, will keynote a Sept. 22 virtual event hosted by the Potomac Officers Club to discuss one of the most important environmental issues facing our planet.
Aside from her role at the SC CASC, McPherson also serves as associate professor of geography and environmental sustainability and an adjunct associate professor of meteorology at the university.
She stressed the need for urgent action on climate change in a recent interview with Oklahoma-based KTUL news station. “If we continue doing what we have been doing, by the end of the century in northeast Oklahoma, we will see over two months on average over 100 degrees,” McPherson said.
Steve Ambrose, chief climate scientist of Science Applications International Corp., will act as keynote introducer and Q&A moderator for POC’s Meeting the Challenge of Climate Change in Industry, Government and Society” forum.
