Navy Increases Scope for Sikorsky CH-53K Lot 5 Production Through $736M Contract Modification

The U.S. Navy has awarded Lockheed Martin‘s (NYSE: LMT) Sikorsky subsidiary a $735.9 million contract modification to increase the scope for low-rate initial production of lot 5 CH-53K helicopters.

Sikorsky will produce nine CH-53Ks and perform logistical, programmatic and aircraft support work for the service branch, the Department of Defense said Friday.

The helicopter manufacturer secured $125.4 million in March 2020 to obtain long lead items needed to manufacture seven heavy lift aircraft for the fleet’s fifth batch.

In March 2021, the Navy issued a $155.2 million modification for lot 6 CH-53K LRIP services.

The King Stallion platform is designed to transport cargo, personnel and land vehicles for the U.S. Marine Corps.
