Woolpert Buys CivilTech to Grow Infrastructure Engineering Portfolio

Woolpert has bought CivilTech Engineering for an undisclosed sum in a deal aimed at complementing the firms’ technology and service offerings to help government clients engineer infrastructure projects.

Woolpert said Wednesday the move will grow its geospatial footprint in Texas and expand engineering opportunities to address the state’s flood prevention and transportation challenges.

Houston-based CivilTech employs 80 workers and maintains three offices within the state.

Melvin Spinks, CEO of CivilTech, said mapping tools are essential to the company’s flood risk management line of business and the merged organization can use technology to collect GIS data for modeling and forecasting use.

“Through science and engineering, we can advance flood modeling and disaster mitigation, improve riverine and coastal resilience, and address the impact of climate change,” Spinks added.

Scott Cattran, president and CEO of Woolpert, noted the two firms are aligned in terms of vision, strategy and culture.
