Perspecta (NYSE: PRSP) celebrated the opening of its new regional office in Augusta, Georgia, near Fort Gordon with a ribbon-cutting ceremony Tuesday as part of the company’s efforts to expand cybersecurity work with customers such as the U.S. Army Cyber Command, The Augusta Chronicle reported Tuesday.
The company intends for its facility in the Georgia Cyber Center's Shaffer-MacCartney Building to house simulated workforce training and back office functions.
“We are excited to make the move to Fort Gordon alongside our ARCYBER customer and are honored to support them as they defend our nation in this critical domain," said Mac Curtis, chairman and CEO of Perspecta and a 2020 Wash100 Award recipient.
The Chantilly, Virginia-based contractor plans to create as many as 178 jobs in areas such as engineering, analysis and solution architecture for cyberspace operations.
Perspecta holds a $905M contract with ARCYBER and a prime position on a cyber services contract with U.S. Cyber Command.
The firm's partners in cyber-related efforts include Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT) and the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency.
Jeff Bohling, senior vice president and general manager of Perspecta's defense group, said the new office will serve as the company’s third-largest following its Washington, D.C. headquarters and research laboratory in New Jersey.
The 332-square-foot center also houses other GovCon firms such as BAE Systems and Parsons (NYSE: PSN).
