Northrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC) has been awarded a $123.5 million contract modification to provide hardware and support services for the integration of the Department of Navy’s Large Aircraft Infrared Countermeasures system onto U.S. and international military aircraft platforms.
The modification will involve systems engineering, analysis, studies and technical efforts for the U.S. Navy, Air Force and the Army as well as New Zealand and Norway under the foreign military sales program, the Department of Defense said Friday.
The LAIRCM system is designed to detect, track and counter incoming IR threats without requiring user intervention. Last year, the Navy issued a $132 million undefinitized contract action on the integration project.
Hardware items covered by the modification include advanced threat warning sensors, high capacity and personal computer cards, laser transmitter assemblies and electro-optical test sets. DoD expects the company to finish work by July 2022.
