BAE Systems‘ land and armaments unit in the U.S. will support the production of howitzers and ammunition carrier vehicles under a potential $148.9 million contract modification from the U.S. Army.
The modification award to BAE Systems Land and Armaments covers early procurement material for M109A7Self-Propelled Howitzer and M992A3 Carrier Ammunition Tracked vehicle production, the Defense Departmentsaid Wednesday.
BAE’s U.S. arm received in December a potential $1.7 billion contract to manufacture the additional howitzers and vehicles for the Army.
The Army Contracting Command obligated the full amount from the Army’s fiscal 2018 “other procurement” funds at the time of the award of the modification.
DoD said it expects work to be complete by Nov. 30, 2022.
