Kevin Scott
Kevin Scott, senior vice president of infrastructure at business social networking company LinkedIn, has been named chief technology officer at Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT).
Scott will report directly to Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella as a member of the senior leadership team and will oversee strategic, cross-company initiatives, Microsoft said Tuesday.
Kevins first area of focus is to bring together the worlds leading professional network and professional cloud, Nadella said.
Scott will continue to serve in his current role at LinkedIn, which Microsoft acquired last year for approximately $26.2 billion through an all-cash transaction.
Prior to LinkedIn, he worked as senior engineering director at Google (Nasdaq: GOOG) and as VP of engineering and operations at mobile advertising firm AdMob, which Google purchased in 2010.
Scott also served as a member of the technical advisory board of Chartboost and Box (NYSE: BOX).
