Kevin Scott, senior vice president of infrastructure at business social networking company LinkedIn, has been named chief technology officer at Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT).
Scott will report directly to Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella as a member of the senior leadership team and will oversee œstrategic, cross-company initiatives, Microsoft said Tuesday.
œKevin™s first area of focus is to bring together the world™s leading professional network and professional cloud, Nadella said.
Scott will continue to serve in his current role at LinkedIn, which Microsoft acquired last year for approximately $26.2 billion through an all-cash transaction.
Prior to LinkedIn, he worked as senior engineering director at Google (Nasdaq: GOOG) and as VP of engineering and operations at mobile advertising firm AdMob, which Google purchased in 2010.
Scott also served as a member of the technical advisory board of Chartboost and Box (NYSE: BOX).
