David Rubal
David Rubal, a former vice president at Oracle(NYSE:ORCL), has been named chief technologist for data and analytics at Herndon, Virginia-based government technology services contractor DLT Solutions.
DLT said Thursday Rubal will oversee the companys data analytics, data science, big data and business intelligence portfolio in his new position.
Alan Marc Smith, DLT president and CEO, said the company appointed Rubal to the newly-created chief technologist role in a push to help address a shortage of data scientists.
Rubal joins DLT from Oracle where he previously served as VP of the sales engineering organization within the software developer’s North America public sector cloud infrastructure solutions business.
He also held leadership roles within the U.S. public sector businesses of Blue Coat Systems, Tableau Software, EMC and Cisco(Nasdaq: CSCO).
The 35-year information technology and data science veteran also worked as sales and marketing VP at Ultra Electronics Criticom; senior managing director at Fiberlink; and a product manager at Fibercom, among others.
Rubal is also a member of the Data Analytics Industry Advisory Board at George Mason University’s Volgenau School of Engineering.
