Northrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC) has secured a $108.1 million contract to build 10 MQ-8C Fire Scout unmanned autonomous helicopters for the U.S. Navy.
The Defense Departmentsaid Friday that Northrop will perform work in California, Alabama, Texas and Mississippi as well as other locations within the U.S. through August 2019.
The Naval Air Systems Command obligated the full contract amount from the service branch’s fiscal years 2015 and 2016 aircraft procurement funds at the time of award.
The MQ-8C four-blade single-engine helicopter is designed to provide autonomous intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance and target acquisition capacity for the Navy.
