AM General has received a one-year, $356.2 million contract modification from the U.S. Army to build an additional 1, 259 Humvees for Afghanistan.
The Defense Departmentsaid Friday that AM General will also produce 414 troop enclosure Humvees and will perform contract-related work in Mishawaka, Indiana, through July 29, 2017.
The Army obligated the full amount of the modification from its fiscal 2015 “other” procurement funds at the time of the award.
The Humvee vehicle is designed to carry up to eight passengers with the armor troop enclosure or troop seat option.
