Gabe Camarillo, former under secretary of the U.S. Army, has been appointed senior vice president of defense technology solutions at KBR.
The Houston, Texas-based company said Tuesday Camarillo will lead the DTS business unit, responsible for accelerating the development and deployment of agile and innovative technologies to the government sector. The new SVP will oversee 7,500 personnel and an annual budget of around $2 billion that can be utilized for the global delivery of scientific, engineering and technical expertise to support land, sea, air and cyberspace defense capabilities for the Department of Defense, UK Ministry of Defence and Australian Defence Force.
Who Is Gabe Camarillo?
Camarillo is a seasoned defense industry executive who was the 35th under secretary of the Army from February 2022 to January 2025. In this role, he also served as the Army’s chief operating officer and chief management officer, overseeing budget development, acquisition and research and development initiatives.

The executive’s private sector career is highlighted by his almost five-year tenure serving various VP roles at SAIC. He briefly served as a senior adviser at McKinsey & Company after serving in the Air Force as assistant secretary of the Air Force for Manpower & Reserve Affairs.
Camarillo also served in the Army for over five years, most recently as the principal deputy assistant secretary of the Army for Acquisition, Logistics & Technology. He served as a special assistant when he joined in 2010.
