KBR has promoted Mark Kavanaugh, most recently a senior vice president, to president of defense, intelligence and space.
Kavanaugh announced his new position in a LinkedIn post published Thursday.
In this capacity, he will oversee KBR’s science and space, national security solutions, and defense and technology solutions, or DTS, portfolios under the company’s Mission Technology Solutions, or MTS, business segment.
MTS and Sustainable Technology Solutions are the two business segments formed under a realignment effort KBR announced in January.
Mark Kavanaugh’s Career Background
Kavanaugh, who has been with KBR since December 2016, most recently served as SVP of DTS. He also held the role of VP of the acquisition engineering division within the company’s engineering group.
Before KBR, he was the director of combat and expeditionary programs of the warfare business group at BAE Systems.
The U.S. Navy veteran served as a senior associate at Booz Allen Hamilton, where he led the firm’s Navy and U.S. Marine Corps Counter Improvised Explosive Ordnance program and business development efforts.
His naval career included time as a major program manager for Naval Sea Systems Command and an explosive ordnance disposal officer.
The Georgia Tech industrial management graduate is a Certified Level III DAWIA Program Manager and a graduate of KBR’s Global Leadership Development Program.
