Cyxtera VP Brad Scyrkels on Colocation Use Cases in Government & His 2023 Federal Cloud Outlook

Brad Scyrkels has served as vice president and general manager of the federal group at Coral Gables, Florida-based data center services provider Cyxtera since February.

In a recent Executive Spotlight interview, Scyrkels offered an overview of the company’s deep roots in the government sector, primary use cases of colocation infrastructure for federal agencies and a preview of how he thinks cloud technology will help shape government data centers.

Here’s an excerpt from the Q&A with Scyrkels about his outlook on federal cloud initiatives in the coming year:

“As we move into 2023 and beyond, we will see more agencies expand their hybrid infrastructure via colocation offerings that provide the agility of the cloud with the cost predictability, performance and security of the data center. I also expect continued demand from federal customers for AI/ML. These are very complex types of workloads with a very hefty price tag, so the ability to come in and consume that in an on-demand fashion with us has been a true differentiator.”
