A new U.S. Space Force office that seeks to facilitate engagement with industry is now fully operational with a team of personnel that can respond to inquiries of companies seeking to do business with the service branch, Breaking Defense said Thursday.
“In summary, the Space Systems Command Front Door is a really important initiative by the command to help connect industry with requirements from the Space Force and Space Systems Command,” Col. Joseph Roth, director of SSC Front Door.
SSC Front Door intends to communicate across the space enterprise to help companies navigate the space acquisition process, provide an approach to identify capabilities for space systems programs and mission areas, align innovation activities to space mission priorities and eliminate barriers of entry to enable the integration of new capabilities into SSC and the U.S. space architecture.
Roth said the Front Door team is working to identify the requirements in each of the command’s mission areas such as space sensing and space domain awareness and combat power in order to communicate the service’s needs to industry. He noted that his team is looking for near-term platforms that could help address needs in those areas.
“We don’t want your traditional industry brief. We want capabilities that we can get after the threat quickly,” he said.
“So, something that’s novel, something we’re unaware of that your company is doing would be really important for you to communicate, so we can get some quick wins,” Roth added.
