Tara Ward Appointed McDermott Partner, Government Contracts Practice Vice-Chair

Tara Ward, a government contracts lawyer, has joined McDermott Will & Emery as a partner within the international law firm’s regulatory practice group.

She will be based in Washington, D.C., as she serves as vice chair of the government contracts practice with a focus on supporting information technology, defense and professional services companies that do business with the federal government, McDermott said Friday.

Having deep experience advising on all aspects of the government contracts process, Tara understands comprehensive legal issues and is a proven and fierce client advocate,” said Ray Jacobsen, global head of McDermott’s regulatory practice.

Ward’s practice covers counseling and litigation related to contract disputes and claims, bid protests, teaming agreements and other government contracting issues. She also helps clients address supply chain issues, other transaction agreements, small business regulations and other areas of government contract law.

Ward is a professorial lecturer in law at the George Washington Law School and editor-in-chief for Public Contract Law Journal.

McDermott’s multidisciplinary approach to the practice of government contracts law is a true differentiator, and one that solidified my move to the Firm,” said Ward.

She will work with Dan Graham, who joined McDermott as head of the government contracts practice in January.
