Former Raytheon Exec John Johnson Joins GM Defense as Business Development VP

John Johnson, a retired U.S. Army lieutenant general and formerly a vice president at Raytheon Technologies (NYSE: RTX), has joined General Motors‘ (NYSE: GM) defense subsidiary as vice president of business development.

In his new capacity, Johnson will aim to identify growth opportunities in the military vehicle, propulsion, power, autonomy and mobility segments, GM Defense said Thursday.

His responsibilities also include customer engagement and strategic planning work to pursue government programs across the globe.

Johnson replaces Angela Ambrose, who has held the BD VP post on an interim basis since March 2020 and returned to her full-time role as VP of government relations and communications.

He previously led customer engagement and government integrated services within Raytheon’s intelligence and space business.

During his more than 35-year Army career, Johnson was assigned to the Department of Defense in various senior positions such as director of the Joint Improvised Explosive Device Defeat Organization.
