Omega Expands Precision Optics Portfolio With Spectral Systems Acquisition; Michael Cumbo Quoted

Omega Optical Holdings has purchased Spectral Systems, a decades-old infrared optical supplier headquartered in Hopewell Junction, New York, to expand its precision optics portfolio

The acquisition aligns with Omega’s goal of serving customers in aerospace, defense, industrial technology and other high-growth markets, the company said Tuesday.

Founded in 1983, Spectral has been providing optical coatings, components and assemblies to blue-chip original equipment manufacturers in life science, analytical instrumentation, aviation and defense sectors.

“The Spectral business enhances our coatings-centric expertise and expands the suite of proprietary products, materials and services we offer to our customers,” explained Michael Cumbo, president and CEO of Omega.

He added that the acquisition is aimed at augmenting Omega’s ability to deliver high-precision, optical coatings, components and assemblies as needed globally, and at supporting company strategy and vision of expanding its scale, capabilities and engineering talent.

As part of the transaction, Spectral will join the newly created Omega infrared division and continue to operate from its New York, Connecticut and New Hampshire facilities.
