DHS Wants Contractor Feedback on Increasing Agency IT Awareness

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security is asking for industry feedback on how federal agencies can develop more situational awareness of their information technology assets.

In a request for information posted Nov. 23, DHS announced it will hold an industry day Jan. 13, 2012 at MITRE Corp.’s McLean, Va. campus for a new Situational Awareness Incident Response Tier III contract.

DHS asked vendors for input on five capabilities it is seeking for SAIR:

  • Asset management
  • Configuration management
  • Vulnerability management
  • Malware detection
  • Situational awareness analysis and reporting

“The tools and services delivered through the SAIR Tier III project will provide federal agencies with the ability to enhance/automate their existing continuous network monitoring capabilities, correlate and analyze critical security-related information, and enhance risk-based decision making at the agency and federal enterprise level, ” the RFI says.

DHS is accepting responses through Jan. 20, 2012.
