U.S. Transportation Command is interested in partnering with entities from industry and academia to explore technology platforms for potential use by the joint force in global mobility operations.
Transcom said it looks to award cooperative research and development agreements in an effort to address the economics, applications and technical and operational maturity of space transportation systems.
The command wants to know the potential advantages and risks of incorporating such a system into the Joint Deployment and Distribution Enterprise.
The notice also outlined potential research topics such as the "resilience of spacelift to kinetic and non-kinetic threats, cyber threats and weather phenomena."
Interested parties can submit input through Jan. 21. The command added it may virtually host an industry day to field questions from non-federal representatives.
