State Dept Clears $300M Sale of Raytheon Technologies-Made Naval Missiles to Romania

The State Department approved Romania's request to buy anti-ship missile systems manufactured by Raytheon Technologies (NYSE: RTX) through a potential $300M foreign military sale transaction with the U.S. government.

The company's missile and defense business would produce two Naval Strike Missile coastal defense systems along with 10 Link-16 Link-16 Multifunctional Information Distribution System-Joint Tactical Radio Systems under the proposed FMS deal, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency said Friday.

Romania also asked to procure four mobile launch vehicles, two CDS fire distribution centers, transport loading vehicles, as well as maintenance, logistics and technical support services.

The agreement would require deployment of U.S. government and contractor personnel to provide assistance.

Raytheon Technologies markets the Naval Strike Missile technology with Norway-based defense and aerospace company Kongsberg. The system is designed to help military users reach targets at a distance of more than 100 nautical miles.
