The company said Monday it will perform aerostat operations, ground control and data networking systems monitoring, air-surface radar operations and data analysis in support of the Tethered Aerostat Radar System program.
The contract has a one-year base period with four option years.
QinetiQ U.S. and its partners will operate eight fixed aerostat sites in the U.S.-Mexico border, the Florida Straits and the northern Caribbean area.
TARS provides border surveillance data to CBP to support military and law enforcement partners conducting air, land and maritime missions.
Shawn Purvis, president and CEO of QinetiQ U.S. and a three-time Wash100 awardee, said the company will build on its decades of experience supporting CBP’s border security mission and its “expansive C5ISR portfolio, specifically in persistence surveillance” to help advance the TARS program.
