The U.S. Air Force made a $5.5 billion modification to an existing deal with Pratt & Whitney, a subsidiary of RTX (NYSE: RTX), for the sustainment of F-117 aircraft engines.
The award increases the value of the project to $8 billion and extends the expected completion date to September 2027, the Department of Defense said Friday.
The original contract was a five-year, $2.74 billion sole-source award involving the Boeing C-17 Globemaster III aircraft engines. Pratt & Whitney was expected to work on the engines in California, Georgia and Oklahoma until September 2022.
Work locations and foreign military sales will remain unchanged despite the contract modification. FMS include Australia, Canada, India, Kuwait, Qatar, United Arab Emirates and the U.K.
The contracting activity is the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma.
