Northrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC) had submitted its bid for the U.S. Air Force™s potential $85B Ground-Based Strategic Deterrent intercontinental ballistic missile program, Defense News reported Friday.
The service branch said it received only one offer for the GBSD program. Boeing (NYSE: BA) confirmed that it did not submit a bid for the competition, a move that leaves Northrop as the only bidder for the program.
œThe Air Force will proceed with an aggressive and effective sole-source negotiation. We remain on track for a contract award in the fourth quarter of Fiscal Year 2020, Capt. Cara Bousie, a spokeswoman for the service, said in a statement.
Northrop and Boeing each secured contracts in August 2017 to perform technology maturation and risk reduction work for the GBSD program, which seeks to replace the Minuteman III ICBM.
