Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) received a $74.8M contract from Consortium Management Group to begin the second phase of development for the U.S. Army’s Multi-Function Electronic Warfare Air Large program.
The company said Wednesday it will develop the “air large” component of the MFEW-AL system, which is designed to deliver combined cyber and electromagnetic spectrum capabilities to warfighters and battlefield commanders.
MFEW-AL complies with the Department of Defense’s C4ISR/EW Modular Open Suite of Standards to facilitate cyber/EW system development and deployment, software and hardware interoperability across ground and airborne platforms, total ownership cost reduction and rapid insertion of new hardware systems.
Deon Viergutz, vice president of Lockheed’s spectrum convergence division, said the company has leveraged its over four decades of experience in ground and airborne EW system development and intelligence community expertise to build a “Cyber/EW product suite for the Army that will continue to evolve to meet the emerging needs of our customers and overcome advances in adversary technologies.”
