Why is digital transformation needed?

Digital transformation became a buzzword in the federal government space as more and more private institutions market their capabilities to bring innovative changes that will revolutionize their enterprises.

But why is digital transformation crucial? It can be easy for agencies and enterprises to stick to their traditional ways as they may have worked in certain situations.

That said, a lack of growth and change–digitization and digitalization wise–would inadvertently cause organizations to become stagnant and purposeless, given that civilian and government needs change with the times.

Outlined below are the key points of why digital transformation in the private and federal government spaces:

  1. Digital transformation calls for more human-centered designs in civilian services. Capabilities made to be user-friendly help people utilize government applications with ease and have access to their personal information.
  2. Digital transformation requires agencies to be transparent and accountable in handling and safeguarding their customers’ and networks’ confidential information. Harnessing new technologies also helps reduce data breaches and cyberattacks.

  1. Reduced data breaches and cyber vulnerabilities entail agencies and businesses to save on costs otherwise allotted for reversing cyberattacks. Added to that, digitizing processes minimizes the use of paper and other printed materials, which benefits environment-saving causes.
  2. Adopting transformative digital capabilities promotes agility and adaptability. Organizations gain a competitive advantage in evolving their products and services based on market trends and demands as they lead against competitors that don’t embrace changes.
