Elbit Systems of America has been awarded a potential $73.4 million contract from the U.S. Marine Corps to manufacture a laser-based rugged technology for measuring distance to targets.
The company said Sunday it received an initial $7.5 million order under the Common Laser Range Finder-Integrated Capability program.
Raanan Horowitz, president and CEO of Elbit Systems of America, said the company aims for the CLRF-IC system to help Marines to “acquire targets without breaking cover…Â and minimize impact while on the move.”
The CLRF-IC technology will be built to determine target location in a GPS-denied or magnetically disturbed environment.
Work will occur in Merrimack, New Hampshire, through March 2020.
