The company intends to deliver 179 total tankers to the Air Force, as well as hand over 18 combat-ready tankers and build four test aircraft by 2017, Boeing said Wednesday.
“I’m pleased to report that the design of the KC-46A tanker has been locked down, ” said Maj. Gen. John Thompson, the Air Force’s program executive officer for tankers.
Boeing started building the wing for the first tanker aircraft in June.
