Concurrent Technologies Corp. CEO Ed Sheehan to Retire in June

Ed Sheehan, Jr. will retire as president and CEO of Concurrent Technologies Corp., effective June 30, after a 33-year career with the organization, including 18 years in the top leadership role.

CTC said Wednesday that Sheehan’s tenure helped position the nonprofit applied research and development firm as a key player supporting national security priorities, technological advantage and advanced manufacturing initiatives. The company’s board has launched a search for its next president and CEO.

Sheehan said the timing aligns with the completion of CTC’s 10-year strategic plan in 2025 and the development of a new plan intended to guide the organization’s next phase of growth.

What Did CTC’s Board Say About Sheehan’s Leadership?

Jeffrey Harris, chairman of CTC’s board of directors, credited Sheehan with strengthening the organization’s culture and mission impact while positioning it for continued expansion.

Board member Linda Thomson said Sheehan leaves behind a foundation of excellence and community engagement that will support CTC moving forward.

Gary Slack, vice chair of the board, highlighted Sheehan’s long-standing commitment to employees and clients, saying his contributions will be missed.

How Has Sheehan Linked CTC’s Work to Emerging Technology Priorities?

In a March 2025 interview with GovCon Wire, Sheehan discussed rising federal demand for artificial intelligence and machine learning, pointing to applications across next-generation command and control, logistics optimization and predictive maintenance.

He also emphasized the importance of Edge Node AI, which allows warfighters and analysts to deploy AI capabilities directly in the field rather than relying solely on centralized cloud environments.

Sheehan warned that cyberthreats are increasingly driven by sophisticated state-sponsored actors and noted the growing risks posed by AI-enabled malware and deepfake content.

What Cybersecurity Milestones Has CTC Achieved Under Sheehan?

CTC announced in July 2025 that it achieved Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification Level 2 following an independent third-party assessment aligned with National Institute of Standards and Technology Special Publication 800-171 requirements for protecting controlled unclassified information.

Sheehan said at the time that the certification reflected CTC’s role as a trusted partner to the Department of War.

What Recent Contract Work Has CTC Supported?

In May 2025, CTC secured multiple contract options from the U.S. Marine Corps and the Defense Logistics Agency supporting energy resilience, cybersecurity and advanced manufacturing efforts.

The work included technical and analytical support for Marine Corps utilities modernization projects, continued programmatic support for the Facility Related Controls Systems initiative, and an effort with DLA and key partners to explore 3D-printed sand-casting mold technology for producing obsolete critical metal castings.

Sheehan said those efforts reflect CTC’s focus on ensuring installation readiness and strengthening operational technology security.

What Comes Next for CTC?

CTC said it expects business continuity throughout the leadership transition and reaffirmed its commitment to stability, transparency and long-term mission execution.

Sheehan will pursue other business interests while continuing community service and volunteer work.
