PCI Federal has appointed Todd Hughes as vice president of AI strategy and solutions. He will join the technology and mission solutions sector, the company said in a LinkedIn post Thursday.

What Will Todd Hughes Lead at PCI Federal?

Hughes will lead the company’s artificial intelligence practice and the continued build-out of its advanced technology group. PCI Federal said his focus is on moving federal agencies past AI experimentation and into secure use that fits their mission, data, governance and operational requirements.

Who Is Todd Hughes?

Hughes served as a program manager at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency from 2006 to 2011, where he oversaw a portfolio of advanced defense technologies and founded the agency’s Adaptive Execution Office.

He comes to PCI Federal from Scientific Systems, where he was chief innovation officer for nearly four years. Before that, he spent under a year as senior vice president of technology at BigBear.ai, and two years at CACI in technical director and chief technology officer roles. He also served as CTO of Next Century Corp. for eight years and worked at Lockheed Martin Advanced Technology Laboratories earlier in his career.

Hughes holds a doctorate in philosophy from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a bachelor’s degree in the same field from SUNY Geneseo. 

PCI Federal said Hughes brings extensive experience in machine learning, AI ethics and responsible deployment.
