In a joint release published Thursday, the companies said they will integrate BigBear.ai’s ConductorOS AI orchestration platform with C Speed’s LightWave Radar, or LWR, system to offer an autonomous threat detection and decision support capability to homeland security and defense partners.
“Securing complex borders and high-consequence environments requires intelligent systems that can sense, understand, and respond at machine speed,” said Kevin McAleenan, CEO of BigBear.ai and a two-time Wash100 awardee. “Our partnership with C Speed brings more secure, mission-ready AI directly to the edge—advancing situational awareness, automation, and officer support for the most demanding national security missions.”
The companies said they expect the integrated platform to support counter-unmanned aircraft system missions and other complex mission engagements and speed up threat detection and response timelines.
“Infusing BigBear.ai’s autonomous capabilities with our LightWave Radar architecture is an integrated solution that can enhance speed and accuracy across national security, homeland, defense and international partners,’ said C Speed CEO Kevin McLaughlin.
“By combining BigBear.ai’s AI-driven solutions with C Speed’s advanced, software-defined radar systems, we’re enhancing real-time threat detection and response,” said Andy Maner, chairman of NewSpring’s federal advisory board.
What Is BigBear.ai’s ConductorOS?
ConductorOS is BigBear.ai’s Al, sensor and data orchestration platform designed to transform how distributed systems are built and managed in mission-critical defense environments.
The platform enables AI-powered decision-making and sensor fusion at the tactical edge, even in contested environments. It orchestrates mission-critical data and models across domains to accelerate targeting, intelligence and operations.
What Is C Speed’s LWR?
LWR is a software-defined radar platform designed to support persistent surveillance across an array of airborne and ground-based products and domains.
C Speed’s LWR suite of surveillance radars supports counter-UAS and air and missile defense missions. The company’s systems are deployed as tower-based and aerostat-based platforms in support of the Department of War, the Department of Homeland Security and international missions.
What Are BigBear.ai’s Recent Partnerships?
The strategic partnership with C Speed marks BigBear.ai’s latest collaboration. In recent months, the AI services provider has announced several partnerships aimed at strengthening national security and defense capabilities.
In October, BigBear.ai teamed up with Tsecond to bring AI-powered edge infrastructure to U.S. national security agencies. A month earlier, the company collaborated with digital solutions firm SMX to deploy AI and orchestration capabilities in support of U.S. Naval Forces Southern Command/U.S. 4th Fleet during the UNITAS 2025 maritime exercise.
In August, BigBear.ai partnered with DEFCON AI to develop AI-based capabilities designed to enhance situational awareness and military readiness. In the same month, the company and Smiths Detection also completed testing of an integrated airport security platform.
