MITRE Books Air Force Contract Modification for NSEC Support

The U.S. Air Force has awarded MITRE a $101.1 million contract modification to continue to provide support for a federally funded research and development center, or FFRDC.

The Department of Defense said Friday the nonprofit corporation will continue to serve as the administrator of the National Security Engineering Center, or NSEC, FFRDC.

In September, MITRE secured a $541 contract option from the Air Force for continued support to NSEC.

National Security Engineering Center FFRDC Contract Modification

The cost-reimbursement contract action awarded by the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center at Hanscom Air Force Base in Massachusetts brings the ceiling value of the previously awarded contract to $5.28 billion.

MITRE will perform work in Bedford, Massachusetts; McLean, Virginia; and other locations within and outside the continental U.S. through Sept. 30, 2028.

The modification includes foreign military sales to various countries.

The MITRE-operated NSEC provides the U.S., its allies and partners with the ability to anticipate and address critical national security challenges through integration across capabilities, missions, organizations and countries.

The center provides independent systems thinking and technical expertise across intelligence and defense systems to help the U.S. improve its safety and deterrence capabilities in a rapidly evolving security environment.
