General Atomics Acquires North Point Defense

General Atomics Integrated Intelligence Inc. is expanding its capability to deliver intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance tools with its acquisition of North Point Defense, or NPD. Bruce Benenati, president of NPD, said in a press release published Monday that the strategic acquisition will enable his company to expand its impact as a provider of signals intelligence technologies.

“The integration gives our team access to unmatched operational expertise, resources, and a broader customer base,” Benenati commented about joining GA-III. “Together, we are poised to deliver even greater capabilities to those who depend on us in the field.”

What NPD Offers

Headquartered in Rome, New York, NPD is known for providing capabilities to the national intelligence community. The company utilizes artificial intelligence and machine learning to automate indications and warnings across air, ground and sea domains.

The company also develops situational awareness tools for warfighters deployed to the Arctic in support of U.S. Strategic Command, U.S. European Command and North American Aerospace Defense Command.

Impact on GA-III

Following the transaction’s completion, NPD will turn into a division under GA-III.

“The integration of NPD technologies into a division of GA-III is a strategic shift, enhancing GA’s ability to innovate rapidly and provide greater value to customers with end-to-end ISR solutions that are more efficient, effective, and technologically advanced,” said Brian Ralston, president of GA-III.

GA-III, formerly General Atomics Commonwealth Computer Research Inc., delivers hardware and software to support customer missions. Its customers include defense and government agencies around the world.
