Raytheon Technologies (NYSE: RTX) has secured a $146.7 million contract from the U.S. Navy to update the Coyote unmanned aircraft system with intelligence, surveillance and renaissance and precision strike technologies.
The company will finalize the Coyote Block 3 configuration and conduct flight tests in support of developmental testing and operational demonstrations for the Navy’s Future Advanced Strike program, the Department of Defense said Thursday.
Under the cost-plus-fixed-fee contract, Raytheon will also develop technical data packages and test assets as well as test support equipment.
Coyote Block 3 will include a new launch module, an enhanced payload air system and a fire control system.
The award has an 18-month base period with three option years. Work will occur in Tucson, Arizona, and San Luis Obispo, California, through Dec. 25, 2024.
