Bluestone Investment Partners portfolio company Precise Systems has announced the acquisition of Ternion, a developer of advanced modeling and simulation software, expanding its interactive training and simulation portfolio to support defense and aerospace missions.
What Does Ternion Bring to Precise Systems?
Precise Systems said Wednesday Ternion developed FLAMES, a simulation tool designed to create composable simulations and integrate live, virtual and constructive environments. The Huntsville, Alabama-based company also provides commercial off-the-shelf and custom simulation products supporting command and control training, mission planning, systems engineering, test and evaluation and analysis for aerospace, defense and transportation customers.
Scott Pfister, CEO and president of Precise Systems, said Ternion’s technology and expertise will help shorten the path from concept to mission application. Ternion President Brad Spearing added that joining Precise Systems will help expand the reach of Ternion’s technology while preserving its agility and customer focus.
How Will the Acquisition Strengthen Capabilities?
Integrating Ternion’s simulation technology with Precise Systems’ strengths in advanced engineering, digital transformation, mission systems, software development and interactive training opens the door to joint development work for the Department of War and allied missions. This is intended to enable Precise Systems to speed up how it builds, integrates and fields new training, experimentation and decision-support tools.
Precise Systems said the acquisition is expected to support prototyping, testing and evaluation activities and enhance interoperability in live, virtual and constructive environments.
The Ternion acquisition continues Precise Systems’ strategy of expanding its training and simulation portfolio through acquisitions. In 2025, the company acquired Mission Focused Systems, adding systems engineering, experimentation and prototyping expertise. A year earlier, Precise Systems purchased Jardon & Howard Technologies, a provider of virtual training simulations and interactive courseware for defense and civilian agencies.
The acquisitions align with the growth strategy outlined when Bluestone Investment Partners invested in Precise Systems in 2023, with executives citing strategic mergers and acquisitions as a key avenue for expanding the company’s capabilities.
