“Open architectures also enable agencies to prioritize interoperability and data sharing between systems in an approach known as multi-domain operations,” Haferbier wrote in an article published on Carahsoft’s website.
He highlighted the importance of having a wide range of industry partners involved in multidomain operations to meet mission outcomes and mentioned how the adoption of the approach could enable civilian and military agencies to rapidly integrate new capabilities into new systems and make use of cross-domain, cross-company and cross-agency digital synergies.
Haferbier mentioned Leidos’ partnership with companies such as Intel (Nasdaq: INTC), HashiCorp (Nasdaq: HCP), Amazon Web Services and Guardtime Federal to develop scalable platforms that could help agencies accelerate operations by eliminating stovepipes and harnessing their data.
He discussed the Edge to Cloud ecosystem and how it could help improve decision-making, government activities and mission outcomes in harsh environments.
“E2C is bidirectional. It enables data collection and compute operations to be conducted where data is collected, and it also transports data back to other systems for broader distribution,” he noted.
With E2C, agencies could facilitate sharing, processing and analysis of data at the edge in real time and bring the information in a digestible format to individuals who need it.
