Comcast’s (Nasdaq: CMCSA) government services business has won a potential 10-year, $84.16 million contract from the Defense Information Systems Agency to replace legacy multiplexing-based circuits and provide mission partners access to the Department of Defense Information Network through ethernet connections.
DISA received six offers for the single-award Commercial Ethernet Gateway Region 4 indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract and will use operations and maintenance funds for fiscal year 2021 to fund a minimum guarantee of $500, DOD said Monday.
The firm-fixed-price IDIQ contract has a six-year base term, followed by a pair of two-year option periods, and the performance period could run through June 22, 2031, should the service exercise all options.
The company is expected to begin work on June 23 in Reston, Virginia.
The latest award brings the number of regions won by Comcast under the Commercial Ethernet Gateway program to three. DISA awarded the telecommunications conglomerate a $103 million contract for Region 3 in early June and another 10-year contract in March 2020 for work on Region 1 covering the Northeastern U.S.
