Alion Science and Technology has received a potential five-year, $87 million task order to help the Naval Surface Warfare Center’s Port Hueneme Division develop a vertical launching system and live, virtual and constructive training equipment.
The company said Monday it will perform research, development, test and evaluation work to assist the U.S. Navy in modernizing its MK 57 launcher platform, interface test sets and in-service engineering agent and LVC tools.
RDT&E efforts will apply commercial technologies to support the military branch’s prototyping, modernization and engineering requirements.
Under the task order, the company will also analyze current naval systems and recommend approaches to NSWC PHD for simplifying architecture.
Alan Dietrich, senior vice president and general manager of Alion’s intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance group, said the company brings its experience in redesigning sensor, weapon and obsolete systems and more than 25 years of LVC development work to the project.
The U.S. Air Force’s 774th Enterprise Sourcing Squadron awarded the task order under the Department of Defense Information Analysis Center Multiple-Award Contract.
